Community Mental Health Team - a team of psychiatrists and psychologists trained to treat mental illness

Exposure & Response Prevention - A system of identifying situations causing anxiety and performing tasks to expose you to the anxiety at a tolerable level

Euphoric

The state of being overjoyed

A feeling of extreme tiredness

Generalised Anxiety Disorder - used to refer to the general term of anxiety

Interpersonal Therapy - A short term treatment for people with depression

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor - A powerful antidepressant

A naturally occurring chemical in the brain used to transmit information from one cell to another

Norepinephrine

Also known as noradrenaline - another type of neurotransmitter

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - used to refer to the condition of being obsessive and compulsive

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - used to refer to the anxiety disorder that occurs after traumatic life events

Rapid Cycling

Swinging from high to low mood without a normal period inbetween. Used for someone with Bipoalr Disorder

Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor - an antidepressant used for the treatment of mental illnesses

Tics

Rapid, repetitive and involuntary contractions of muscles

Tricyclic Antidepressant

A medicine used in the treatment of depression. Used for people who can't tolerate SSRIs

Tourette's Syndrome

A condition causing repetitive movements or sounds
